Frequently Asked Questions
FAQs about NPS Calculator
How is NPS calculated?
NPS = % Promoters − % Detractors. Promoters are respondents who score 9–10, Passives score 7–8, and Detractors score 0–6. The result ranges from −100 to +100.
What is a good NPS score?
Any positive score is considered good. Above 0 means more promoters than detractors. Scores above 50 are excellent, and above 70 are world-class.
Why are Passives excluded from the NPS formula?
Passives (7–8) are satisfied but not enthusiastic enough to actively promote your product. They are counted in the denominator (total responses) but not in the percentage difference, which naturally dilutes the score.
How many responses do I need for a reliable NPS?
A minimum of 30 responses is generally recommended for statistical significance. Fewer responses can lead to large swings in score with each individual reply.
