Frequently asked questions

What is Brie?

Brie is a bug reporting browser extension that captures screenshots, video, console logs, network requests, user actions, and session replay so developers can reproduce issues faster. It is built for QA, support, product, and engineering teams who need developer-ready bug reports.

What does a Brie bug report include?

A report can bundle a screenshot or video, the browser console logs, network requests with status codes and timing, the user actions leading up to the bug, and a session replay, along with browser, OS, and viewport details. Everything is shared through a single link.

How does Brie handle sensitive data?

Network requests are redacted in the browser before anything is stored. Brie uses regex patterns and a list of 50+ sensitive field names to replace JWT/Bearer tokens, API keys, authorization and cookie headers, credentials, and financial data such as card numbers with [REDACTED_BY_BRIE]. Session recording is automatically blocked on login pages, payment forms, password managers, and identity providers, and you can add your own per-host denylist.

How does session replay work?

Brie records a lightweight replay of the session so developers can watch exactly what happened before the bug instead of guessing from a written description. Recording is skipped on sensitive pages, and you can disable it for specific domains.

Which browsers does Brie support?

Brie works on Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Opera, and Chromium. For Safari, check the install options on the Brie site for current availability.

Is Brie open source?

Yes, the Brie browser extension is open source on GitHub at github.com/briehq/brie-extension.

How long does Brie keep my bug reports?

Bug reports are retained for 90 days by default, then deleted. You can also delete any report you have captured at any time. For account and data deletion and your full privacy rights, see the Brie Privacy Policy.

Do you have a REST API?

Yes. Brie ships with a fully documented REST API so you can fetch slices, list sessions, and hook Brie into your own tooling. See the reference at brie.io/docs.

Do you have an MCP server?

Yes. Our MCP (Model Context Protocol) server lets AI assistants query Brie directly, pull captured bug context, and cite session replays. Setup instructions live in the docs.
