FAQs about Word Count
How are words counted?
Words are split by whitespace (spaces, tabs, newlines). Consecutive whitespace counts as a single separator.
How is reading time calculated?
Reading time uses an average speed of 200 words per minute. Speaking time uses 130 words per minute.
What readability score is used?
The Flesch-Kincaid formula calculates both a Reading Ease score (0-100, higher is easier) and a Grade Level (US school grade).
How does keyword density work?
Common stop words (the, is, a, etc.) are excluded. The tool shows the top 10 most frequent 1-word, 2-word, and 3-word phrases with their count and percentage.
Is my text sent to a server?
No. All analysis happens entirely in your browser. Nothing is uploaded or stored.
