Video Recording

Record your screen to show bugs in motion

Some bugs need to be seen to be understood. Brie lets you record your browser tab or full desktop, with a floating toolbar for real-time annotations. Trim the result, review error events on the timeline, and export — all without leaving the browser.

Tab and desktop modes

Record just the active browser tab for focused captures, or record your entire desktop when the bug spans multiple windows. Choose your mode from the popup before starting.

Floating toolbar

While recording, a draggable toolbar appears on the page with play/pause, stop, a timer, and annotation tools. Use the highlighter to draw red markings or the blur tool to hide sensitive areas — all captured live in the recording.

Microphone audio

Toggle the microphone on to narrate what you're doing and what you expected to happen. Mic audio is captured separately and merged with the video — mute and unmute anytime from the toolbar.

Trimming and events timeline

After recording, trim the start and end to remove unnecessary footage. The events timeline shows console errors and failed network requests as colored markers so you can spot exactly when things went wrong.

Local encoding and export

Brie records in WebM and can export to MP4. All video encoding happens locally in your browser — your raw recording never leaves your machine until you save the slice. Maximum recording duration is 5 minutes.
